We are delighted to be informed that former student Hannah Jones, has received the highest award in Girlguiding, the Queen's Guide Award.

Hannah, described as an "inspirational young woman", was presented with her Queen's Guide Award at the House of Commons on 3rd June by Val Elliott, the interim chairwoman of Girlguiding's Board of Trustees and Sally Illsley, deputy chief Guide.

To achieve this prestigious award, Hanaah took on a series of personal challenges in areas such as social actions, voluntary work and travel.

Fewer than 150 Girlguiding members are presented with the award each year.  Hannah took two years to complete her challenges which included travelling to South Korea, becoming a leader and representing Gwent on the Girlguiding Cymru Youth Council.

Hannah, now 20 and studying Optometry at Cardiff University, said "My Queen's Guide allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and become much more confident".

Well done Hannah, we are extremely proud of you.
