This year’s Library Trip to the world famous Hay Festival, was enjoyed by 35 keen readers, who – despite the pouring rain - were all thoroughly entertained and inspired by the literary delights that the festival had to offer.
We started the day in one of the festival’s huge tents, for ‘An Audience with Laura Dockrill’, YA author of ‘Big Boned’, Not only did she make us laugh uncontrollably, but she also answered many questions from our delighted students and we all came away with smiles on our faces! We were particularly inspired by her encouraging message that we can all write if we really want to.
Next, we listened to a rather more serious talk from journalist and author, Sue Turton, who captivated everyone with her inspiring tales about her experiences in war zones. We hope to have her book, ‘This Book Will (Help You) Change the World’, on the library shelves soon.
The day was rounded off with a performance from award-winning poet and S4C star, Aneirin Karadog, who entertained us with a lesson on how to rap, showing that there are many different ways in which words can be used to deliver a message.
